Licence issue

I recently renewed our Avast! licence for another 3 years but am having a couple of issues. Wanted to see if anyone can give me some direction on how to proceed.

My ADNM console stopped working when my license ran out. I was able to download and load the new license into the console, so it’s back up and running now.

I had read that the server is supposed to automatically distribute the license file to the workstations, but when I go into the workstation’s settings, they’re showing that I only have until August 10 before the license runs out. This tells me that they have not loaded the licences.

What do i need to try to get them to load properly? Do I need to manually load the license file at each workstation?

No, they’ll pull the information from the AMS server, but it will take a little while.

There’s a setting in the ADNM console that tells how often the clients must “check in” with the server. By default, the update interval is 30 minutes I believe.

So, I’d wait about 30-45 minutes and then check again.

It’s been much longer than 30-45 minutes, more like 5 days.

When the Avast! program is launched at the workstation and it’s doing it’s memory check, it says on that window that the Licence is managed from the AMS server, but when I go into the Licence manager itself and look at the licence properties, it’s still looking at the old licence file licence.dat and is due to expire in 8/10/10

I went ahead and just loaded the new licence file onto a network share and manually loaded it onto the workstations and it loaded fine, the licence has been extended indefinetly and updates are available for 3 years as per the purchase I made.

I’m still worried that this is only a band-aid solution though since it’s =supposed= to be able to take the license directly from the AMS, but obviously if the licence file had been sitting there for days without the workstations being licenced through it, then something was wrong.

Strange then.

I’d make sure that the correct IP address for the AMS server is in your Computer catalog. Also, check to make sure that a firewall isn’t preventing client access to the AMS server.

Ports used that must be open in firewalls are listed in the ADNM administrator’s guide.

Of course, manually loading the license file works and you shouldn’t have any problems with that, but yes it should have been ale to pull the new license by itself.

what do i do when i don’t have a license key to register my avast pro 4.8

Uh, purchase a license. Then insert it.

Then, don’t hijack other people’s threads, it’s rude.

I have tried the following above and my clients are not getting the license information. We don’t have any firewall up in our organization internally. Any other suggestions?

Hi Trini Boom,

Please start your own topic and give us some details. What OS is the ADNM console running on, What OSes are the clients, anything in event logs, etc.

Thanks, and welcome to the forum.
