I would like to know, what will happen to my activation code after upgradseing to the new Avast 5 when it is released?
Will it be valid for the new upgrade version?
I’m not quite sure ??? But there will be a free version too, maybe they would ask us to make a new key for the free version as they was using to build a statistic just like on ver. 4, or we may use the old key.
But for the pro version, I remember read somewhere around about this forum, but can’t find it again

Yes, it will be valid when Version 5 is released.
From the avast! blog:
As usual, all customers (or users) with a valid avast! subscription will get a free upgrade to this new version.

There a thing that its not clear for me is does the Home Key i did register for 4.8 will work for 5.0 ?
Or 5.0 Home will dont got anymore key ?

What is if I reinstall 4.8 and then install version 5… or in general case: what will happen if I uninstall my Avast and then install it new? The licence stay in my system? Or it will be removed also but then I can type the code again, and the version will be activate again? Or my linence code will not be valid any more after reinstall?

As far I know, the registration process did not change. It will still be possible to use a 4.8 key and yes, you’ll need a key.
If there isn’t an special process on avast 5 setup, no, the key is not saved. You’ll need to insert it again (or a new one).

Paid users should be able to use their license key on avast 5 with no problem.

No. I’m not saying that. If you have a valid version 4 key it could be used until it finishes with version 5. Just that, maybe, you’ll need to add the license manually. I’m not sure.
I have receive an email from avast’s sales divison, I would share it here:
Second, if you purchase avast! Ver.4.8, then you will be upgraded, free, to Ver 5.0. No second purchase is required. The release of Ver 5.0 is expected in the last quarter of 2009.
And Tech maybe right, we may need to insert the lisence manually (even I’m not so sure). We should keep the lisence in the safe place.
