license.avast is not a valid avast! license file

My free version of Avast! expired so I purchased the Pro version. Trying to apply the license and I keep getting the “license.avast is not a valid avast! license file” error message. I even had them resend the file just in case, still didn’t work.

If I try to register the free version I get “The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error” message. When I tried uninstalling the old version I got another error message.

Anyone run into this and know how to fix it?

Try this
Run from safe mode. Uninstall all versions with this and reboot. http://www.avast.com/en-eu/uninstall-utility

Then install avast pro as trail version
When You have it up and running and fully updated…try inserting the license again

That worked great for fixing the license issue with Avast! but once I got it all updated I no longer had internet connectivity. I had to do a system restore to get back online…

do you have a firewall other then windows ?

Only firewall is Windows. Could it be a conflict between it and the one in avast?

Avast! Pro does not have a firewall furthermore even if you were running AIS, it was design to run alongside Windows firewall. Have you reboot your machine yet ? Is the connection back ?

Only avast AIS have firewall, and You are using avast pro…You say

There have been some cases where the firewall (not winfirewall) is blocking outbound connection When programs are updated. This has in many cases Been solved by deleting the rules for that program, rebooting and create new rules
