Licensed To email incorrect, how to change?

I have recently bought a new laptop and need to move avast onto the new one from my old one. The only issue is that the licensed to email is misspelled so I can not get the license code resent as the email address is wrong.

Is there any way to change this email address or to get the license code from my old laptop?

Change the address and have the license resend to you.

Hi Eddy,

I have linked my account to that address but when I request the license to be re-sent it sends an email to my account saying that there is no record of a valid purchase from this email address.

If it helps the email address that the license is linked to it is spelt gmail.om at the end whilst the one I am trying to get it sent to is gmail.com - the beginning of the address is spelt the same in both

Add the correct email and set it as primary email.
Than request the license to be resend.
That should work.

The gmail.com is set as the main email address and it is still coming back with the email that says that there is no valid purchase from this account

You must have received your license file for it to be entered in your old laptop installation of avast ?

Find the email that you received with the license.avastlic file attached and save that to your hard drive, transfer to a USB stick and to the new laptop.

I haven’t been able to find the email it got sent to me in but I only renewed my subscription on the 31st Jan so I should still be able to access the download link - if I re-download the file and use that on the new machine will that work?

Yes it will work.

Hi Eddy,

I downloaded the license file again, tried to run it and it came up with ‘The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error’ - I have uninstalled the antivirus on the machine and then re-installed Avast but it still comes up with that error.

I am also unable to connect this laptop to my Avast Account.

There are several issues known caused by updating.
My suggestion is to remove avast and do a clean install.
Than check if there are problems or not.

  1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition.
Here are the installer links. Note: You need to be ONLINE during this install.

Avastclear : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

  1. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
  2. Uninstall in Safe Mode using Avastclear.
    http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
  3. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.

  4. Be Sure Too Check Once Uninstall is Complete:Device Manager>View>Show Hidden Devices
If there is anything related to Avast with a yellow triangle then uninstall it (highlight, right click) and reboot.
  5. Install the version you downloaded.
  6. Reboot.

Also, here is the download links to the offline installers but in some cases the offline installer doesn’t work, whereas the online one does.
It has something to do with the wrong SFX in some installers…I’ve read several posts on issue with VISTA with the offline.

Tried that but still no luck. Oddly enough I reinstalled avast on my old laptop using the license file that I am trying to use on my new pc and it works there.

Are there other files that I will need to transfer over in order for the license file to work?

You need to uninstall avast on the first machine “before” moving the license to the second machine.
Unless you have a multi-PC license.

I don’t have a multi-PC license but I did uninstall it on my first machine before trying the same license file on my new laptop.
