Hello,
I have 3 pc’s in the house taking advantage of 1 yr 3 PC Protection offer. For years using free version with success and like to contribute by purchasing Avast paid version.
My question not found in the forums, I have 1 PC with 3 OS (Win 8.1/7/XP), can I use one of the three licenses for that PC or each OS considered individually? (using up all three licenses).
Still have two other PC in the house.I read it both ways on other forums and need to know. Thanks for any clarification.
Hi pcwizgcl, welcome to the forum
Good question, I don’t know.
I could you give my interpretation, but that wouldn’t be an official answer.
So I will forward it.

This question was asked before and if I recalled correctly the answer was that you need a license for each OS.
If that is the case, Avast! should clarify that in their advertising in my opinion.

Thanks all for your replies. As said, been using free Avast version for years (to date) and got an offer for 3 PC’s a year for $25. Not bad deal but need specifics on licensing policy.
Some software developers regard one PC regardless of how many OS’s installed as one hardware (PC). Otherwise need to buy more seats.
May stay with free version and use MS Defender for malware protection, MS firewall and so on.
MS firewall is fine but I’d uses Malwarebytes instead of MS Defender.
On the license, I’d look at it as One Computer since you only use one OS at a time but, I’m only an Avast user like you.
The offer in question and others comes up once in a while and had to pass it up. Until an Avast representative clarifies situation, will keep set up the same. Worked great to date.
Will look into Malwarebytes for Defender replacement.
Another program used is Spybot - Search & Destroy for XP.
