Have Avast miss lime wire
Where did you get this particular setup file for Limewire?
The genuine Limewire is not a malicious program. The VT result suggests either a crack or an unusual false positive rate.
[edit] Here is the VT analysis for one of the genuine Limewire setup files. http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/report.html?id=62ac5c2a1f948029a94446cee678dc9c73ed7e8c60159801d93def3edee21672-1237257566
@Tarq57 i think Mr.chabbo is downloading torrents and files from the internets darkets places
So it may be this one, see #4 from the top and #2 from bottom ( not the same md5 )
http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?name=pinballpublishernetwork.com
also if you do a google search for LimewireSetup.exe and click any of the link, you get MBAM IP block on most
I would recommend to lose limewire unless you paid for it.
Nothing good ever comes from it anyway.
Especially when searching for software using it.
8 out of 10 downloads is infected with something…I promise.
Even if the anti-virus don’t detect it, doesn’t mean its clean.
New malware comes out daily, and guess what.
None of the AV’s find it usually until someone has gotten infected with it, reported it, and sent a file in for them to review.
This lime Wire did i find on
hxxp://galleries.securewebsiteaccess.com/804e90c9b4/85419bc6b81a/index.html
About that website:
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/securewebsiteaccess.com ;D
URLVoid is a bit false: http://www.urlvoid.com/scan/securewebsiteaccess.com - MyWOT = CLEAN?
And just an advice: always download things from the LEGAL website!
Always a good idea to download any application direct from the manufacturers website, or an approved mirror.
In Limewire’s case, that’s here: http://www.limewire.com/
I wouldn’t say 8 out of ten downloads are infected; that’s a gross exaggeration. It seems to me a high percentage of software is likely to be infected, and some movies. It doesn’t take too long to work out which ones are not genuine, by file size, extension, and (often) a “greyed-out” browse-user button associated with the file.
I’ve never encountered an infected music file, although the music I’ve downloaded with it usually tends to be old and not in release any more.
I think it is 10/10… I never saw such an infected network…
When it’s not infected, it’s fake…
Cripes, what sorts of files are you guys searching for on this P2P network?
Sure there are a few, but 8/10? 10/10???
You’re either using the wrong search terms, or hunting for software cracks.
I did this for testing the antivirus detections once.
But files such music/video are fake, other archive ones with a legit name, full with garbage and malware…
It’s an infested network in my opinion. You can use others a little bit more clean
