Hi guys, I’ve encountered a bit of a problem.
My external hard drive is now showing all my folders as .lnk files. I’m not sure how this came about: I use an iMac, and from what I’ve heard .lnk files only operate on a PC. I don’t remember lending or using my external hard drive on a windows computer, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, but it’s not really much help, since I haven’t been transferring anything recently. these files have been on the HDD for a while and out of the blue they’ve recently all become .lnk files, which makes me suspect some kind of bug.
If the removal expets here do not know (have sendt them a pm ) you may post in the Mac forum section
There is very little malware removal for the Mac as it has never really been targeted before, but that is all changing now. However, there are no forums that I know of that will assist in malware removal
There is a Kaspersky tool that may or may not help
