Is there a way to set the local time zone for members?

Sure, go to: Profile → Look and Layout
Note that the auto-detect option works fine, but only checks your local time as of when you select it, not continuously afterwards as is the case with some forums (fora?) elsewhere, e.g., Wilders. So you’ll have to remember to do it again at least twice a year in the spring and fall when most places change. Here in Canada and the U.S. we have to change the setting 4 times a year, since we use different dates from much of Europe for our change-overs.
