log showing errors?

hello everyone, :slight_smile:

I’m little worries after i removed viruses from my system it showed this errors. when viruses detected i sent it to chest, and after i scan and showing no infected, but after i delete the viruses it showed this.
errors in aswchests: chests restore error 32.

i’ll post the log when i find copy and past software.

We will need more information to be able to help you:

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number?
  • What was the filename and path where the virus was found? (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx)?

Did you try to run avast at boot time?

You can use windows explorer to get to the log.

Open windows explorer and navigate to this key

C\program\alwil software\avast4\data\logs

click the + beside each above except logs

click on the logs folder

then in the right hand panel, right click on the error log. You can use note pad to open it with. Then highlight the text you want, right click the the text, chose copy. On this reply page right click anywhere and chose paste.

i’m using the home edition and i never like internet explorer, so instead i’m using Firefox.

the VPS file is current i believed 071124-0

avast! Log Viewer showed error in aswchestS: chests restorefile error 32
aswchestC: chest restorefile error 32
aswchestinterface - program error description: chestlistview::…

i’m sorry, i don’t know OS mean.

after detected viruses i send to virus chest and scan using avast and there is no viruses, so i deleted the viruses and after that it showed error 32.

the avast still work find, just errors 32 that i’m curious.

Operational System: Windows XP or Vista?

There is not hush to delete the files from Chest. They’re safe there, can’t harm.

Maybe any of the programmers could drop some light here… I mean, about this error number.

i’m using window xp, the old computer (not enough money to buy a new one yet) :frowning:

so this errors 32 is mean nothing important really?

i’m just making sure my computer work fine even with this errors in my system.

I can’t be sure, but probably your protection is on and working.

You are confusing windows explorer with internet explorer.

Windows explorer will let you view all the files and folders on your computer. Pretty much the same as my computer.

ohhh, my bad i get mixed up with those

anyway, where can i get the view all files and folders? i don’t know much about computer, i only used computer to do school works and little of games.

You shouldn’t have to change any settings. Do the following

click the start button
click all programs
highlight accessories
another menu will appear, on it click windows explorer

click the +beside my computer and follow the rest of the instructions in my previous post. It should look something like the image below, though you can’ see the log flder in the image.
