Long shot, but can VRDB effect scripting in MSIE?

I ran VRDB early Sat. morning. (2am) The next day my browser MSIE 6.0 would no longer process javascript, aspx, active-x (Flash) or any other scripting. Java works fine.

I have posted threads
http://forum.sysinternals.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=21495&PN=3
and
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/6dcf5b94-ba68-4d35-9ae5-0c1343faac55

and found no answers. So I have to ask, is there anything that VRDB could have done to cause this problem?

thank you.

very long shot and missed by a mile, no the VRDB couldn’t have any impact on IE Scripting as it is passive, until called by avast after a detection if you select Repair (assuming the option is active). Even when generating the VRDB database it has no security functionality so shouldn’t interfere with IE scripting.

I would say that you are fighting a lost cause as you should at least update IE6 to at least IE7, I have not considered IE8 as there are still a number of issues with that. IE9 is already in the pipeline after only months of IE8.

Thanks for the quick answer on a Sunday night. I just has to rule that out. Thank you.

You’re welcome.

If I recall you can try uninstalling IE6, as it is integrated into the OS I ‘think’ that it gives the option to repair ???
