Lots of errors in my scans

Hi guys ;D

When I scan my HD I get a lot of errors, which I don’t understand. Below is some cut’n’paste from the report file.

Why do I get all these errors? Are the files really corrupted? I havn’t noticed anything that didn’t work, but a lot af these files are kind of old ;D

What version of avast! and virus database (VPS) are you using?
Which is your OS?

Internal program error has a specific forum to post. See here.

I think pk is the best one to help you. Why don’t you send him an IM with your log?

I had some troubles in the past but now, avast does not detect so much ‘false positives’ as you did… :wink:

I use the lates versions. I downloaded avast a few days ago, and updated the database right away. Also I use Win ME.

I’ll read the other tread, and have a look at it, but the files that is making the internal errors are kind of big, approx 1 Gb I think ;D They are vob files ripped from the atlantis dvd (and no! they are not illegal ;D They are from the original dvd, and you are alowed to rip digital media for your own privat use, at least in Denmark ;D)

I can see most of the errors you get are AsPacked files. The AsPack support was improved recently - I can send you a link to the new test version tomorrow (and I would certainly like to hear if some of the AsPack errors still remain).
Then, I can see a GZIP file - that would certainly be interesting for PK, as well as the RAR I guess.
The MANIFEST.MF files are some java classes… they are known to be “strange” (if not corrupted).
As for the VOB files… the problems may be connected to their size… do you say they have “only” 1GB each?

fkj, if you want some suggestion on FTP Tools for uploading, pk could open his FTP area on avast server for you. I suggest Core FTP Lite but you can take a look at
ESFTP
or UnlimitedFTP.

pk, just to know. When the user needs to send a big file, can it be splitted into parts (by other application) and send to you?
Will the trouble (virus, error…) be affected by this sppliting?

Sure, he can split the file into the small parts (with other application, for example TotalCommander).

Hi, PK

I have send you the viapfd100.exe and all the hereos saves (in a zip), but not the tm3.rar, I’ll send you that when I come back home (yup, I’m back at the office :-\ DAMN! thesis! ;D)

I think the vob files are about 1 Gb each. I have some more vob files from the same rip but they didn’t make an error, så mabe its just the big ones…? If I havn’t used all my trafic at the end of the month I can send you one of the vob files ;D

PK: You sometimes post such kind of posts here… so I thought that such an experienced seeker should not have problems finding links like http://ftp.cizgi.com.tr/VIA/viapfd100.exe ;D

The VOB files are usually (always?) 1GB big - maybe except for the last one on the DVD. I doubt there will be any big differences in their size… so I would expect that many other VOBs will show the same error (can’t imagine why these ones should be special ???)

I was kidding, even a beginner seeker would not have problem to find the downloadable place.

fkj, I checked viapfd100.exe file, but RAR header of the last file is really corrupted (even WinRAR says: “D:\Downloaded\viapfd100.exe: The file “???” header is corrupt” - all files are extracted & scanned (or installed by that self-installation app) without any problems.

Since RAR file is in EXE, it’s not easy to say if the archive was really corrupted or not (because I can’t know if the last file is really the last one - and then some binary garbage behind its, or corrupted header of the next file) - but I’m going to do little fix into the next build.

Heroes saved game files are compressed with GZIP, I could get the original valid unpacked file - but with unknown reason, .GM1 files have invalid CRC value at the end of the file.
