LVPr2Mon Driver service error

Upgraded from Avast 4.8 to Avast 6.0.1125. began receiving multiple entries of the following error during boot:

EVENT ID:7000 The LVPr2Mon Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The parameter is incorrect.

Reverted back to 4.8 error is gone. Uninstalled everything, including all Logitech files and drivers.
Reinstalled Avast 6 and worked fine, no errors. Installed Logitech webcam software, error appeared again.
Uninstalled Logitech webcam software and drivers, again Avast worked fine. Reinstalled Logitech webcam software using the
suggested “clean” install method as per the Logitech support web pages. No luck with this either.
Again reverted back to Avast 4.8 and the error disappeared.

Not saying Avast is the definite problem, could be my configuration, but
after further research this seems to have been a problem with an earlier version of AVG 2011 but has since
been addressed.

Anyone else experienced this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would run the AVG Uninstaller Tool again just to make sure all remnants are gone. Here is their tool: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools, then reboot your machine.

Since you have gone back and forth with Avast 4.8 and 6.0+, I suggest an uninstall/clean install again:

  1. Save a copy of Avast for the product you need and save it to your HDD (if not already done) :
    http://www.avast.com/download-software – all products (Free, Pro, AIS) – 6.0.1125
  2. Download the Avast Uninstall Utility http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe and save it to your HDD.
  3. Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
  4. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
  5. If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool. Uninstall ALL previous versions (4.0, 6.0) and products of Avast you had on this machine one at a time and reboot in between each uninstall.
  6. Reboot.
  7. Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
  8. Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for Free, Pro, or AIS.
  9. Update the Avast definitions.

Let us know how this works for you and if it resolves your problem. If it doesn’t fix your problem, in your next post, please let us know the following:

What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:

  • Antivirus (AV) - besides Avast and AVG
  • Firewall (FW)
  • Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
  • Other security software
  • If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor’s uninstaller’s tool or another way)?

Thank you.

Thanks for the response.
I have completed steps 1 through 9 still with negative results. Still getting the error.
In response to the other questions:
Avast is the only AV that I have used since a clean reinstall of Windows XP Pro SP3.
Firewall is Comodo.
No Trial Versions of anything.
Only other security I use is MalewareBytes free, CCleaner I guess if you consider CCleaner a security program, I do.
I have done all of the scans, read all of the logs looking for malicious items. Nothing found.
Never have used AVG, just read about it affecting other people with the same error.
Installed AVG temporarily just to see if i got the error and did not.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Quick by the way, I was also getting the uhpcleanhlp.sys false positive as well.

I’m going to have you submit a mini-dump file for Avast to analyze.

Here is additional information on how to invoke a memory dump file: http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=71.

Please, zip and upload the C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file to this anonymous ftp server and name it uniquely: ftp.avast.com/incoming. Avast will analyze it and respond back to you in this thread or to your email.

Please list the name of the zipped file here in this thread in your next post. Thank you.
