What version of avast are you using, 4.8 or 5.0 ?
What is your email program ?
Are these email from a Secure encrypted connection, SSL/TLS ?
Are you getting any errors, if so what are they ?

- I use Alice Mail (www.alice.it) and Aol webmail (www.aol.com)

The AOL mail will be viewed through your browser so won’t be covered by the Mail Shield.
Looking at the alice.it site using bablefish translation it looks like alice mail is also webmail, e.g. mail.alice.it viewed through your browser ?
If it isn’t webmail based then you need an email program to download and view that email, so what is that email program (image 1) ?
I think it’s Microsoft® Office Outlook® Web Access per Exchange Server 2003…
Then you need to check the email accounts settings (properties) in MS Outlook, I think it is in the advanced tab of the account properties and ensure that it isn’t using SSL.
Sorry I can’t be any more helpful as I don’t use MS Outlook.
