If I allow Avast to do incoming mail check, all incoming mail is blocked. I have to remove mail check. This a new problem. Please help, as my mail is now unprotected.
give details, email provider, client used, POP/IMAP/SMTP settings etc… it’s impossible to help you like that.
ps: and your mail is not really unprotected without the mail shield. The mail shield is a plus, not more. Your email provider has a spam filter,scans for viruses, and locally (ie on your PC), the file shield scans your mails too, although not as deeply and as soon as the mail shield does.
Which avast, which version, etc… ??
avast 6.0.1000 Thunderbird. Mail server zahav.net.il Incoming mail pop.012.net.il. port 110.no security .out mail SMTP. 012.net.il. port 25. no security. These are the only settings in Thunderbird. With Outlook Express I get the same result, with Avast mail protection, I cannot send or receive mail.Thank you both for your quick response.
To-day I repaired my XP installation. And now I can use the mail check of Avast normally. Why the OS affected Avast, that is a mystery.I wish to thank the two people who wanted to assist me.
