Mail Shield

Being unable to receive email messages through my email program, my service provider suggested I turn off Mail Shield which solves the problem but where’s the point in running Avast if this has to be turned off?

What type of email connection do you use? IMAP, POP3, SSL, webmail, etc.

Also please answer…

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)
  • Which version…??
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

You did not make it easy for us to read your answers. ::slight_smile:

Anyway…what is NIL. ?

Nil means I don’t have any other security installed.

I was considering purchasing Avast for banking security purposes but if I have to keep the Mail Shield turned off then it’s not an option.

Does your mail account use SSL ?

Well, did you have a look at the posted links…?? ???

Does your mail account use SSL ?

Yes it does and I’ve changed it from SSL to none. It happened all of a sudden with no changes from me. I have two other accounts, one of which is also SSL and it’s fine, the problem is only with the account from my Service Provider.

Look on the link Asyn gave on how to sett up SSL accounts

Yes, I did that, it’s still a mystery as to why it’s only on the account from my service provider. Thanks for your help.
