Malformed address messages when sending mail

I’ve just upgraded to avast 5.0 (free) I found that when I run my mail client (Thunderbird) I get messages from avast suggesting I reduce the security of my accounts :-. When I try to send mail I get error messages with two out of the three mail accounts suggesting malformed email addresses and the mail doesn’t go. Disabling avast mail shield cures this.

avast! 5.x: Some e-mails are not scanned by the Mail Shield

Thanks. I’ve followed the instructions at the link and added the problem accounts to the list in mail shield with port number and whether SSL or not. Enabled mail shield again but the problem is still there ie. malformed address error.

Oh well Avast obviously conflicts with Thunderbird and I won’t be changing from that any time soon. I’ll just use another AV product. There are plenty of god ones around.
