Malicious URL Blocked (repeatedly)

Hi there. One of my coworkers is receiving repeated messages of Malicious URL Blocked from 2 alternating URLs.

I read the forums and saw similar issues and have taken the requested steps and I am posting the log files for assistance.

Thank you and I hope you can help me figure this out.

-Michael

[*]Note: If Cure is not available, please choose Skip instead, do not choose Delete unless instructed.

Please copy and paste its contents on your next reply.

Hi there. So I downloaded the exe and ran it and it found a few things, but only 1 thing was high risk and had the cure option. Unfortunately I didn’t capture the report because I was a little confused on the instructions (it says Continue twice, but one Continue finishes the job). So I wasn’t sure if I could have cured some potential threats that were listed and designated as Skip because I thought I would have a 2nd chance on the 2nd Continue option that didn’t exist.

So I couldn’t copy the 2nd report as my remote connection wasn’t allowing copy and paste for some reason currently.

I restarted the computer and everything seems fine so far.

I’ll keep you posted.

Thank you very much for the assitance (and the super quick response time as well).

-Michael

Could you attach the TDSSKiller log please as there may be another element to remove

It will be at C:\TDSSKiller date time and be the largest one

Ah ok, so that’s where those were hiding :stuck_out_tongue:

Attached are the log files for each time I ran it.

Thanks,
-Michael

OK re-run TDSSKiller with the same parameters as before
When this element appears select delete:

\Device\Harddisk0\DR0 ( TDSS File System )

Once done could you let me know what problems remain

Hi Essex,

I deleted the element as suggested, but the user had to leave for the day so I will follow up with him tomorrow to see if he’s still having issues.

Thank you again for your speediness and great assistance - it’s been very impressive and professional.

Regards,
-Michael

OK let me know when you are happy and I will tidy up

Hi there. I just wanted to say thank you and let you know that this virus has been successfully gone after doing the steps above. Feel free to file this away as solved.

Thanks again and happy new year,
-Michael

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [emptytemp] [CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS] [Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
