Malware alert

Hi, loaded my laptop today and the Avast web shield started to give me alerts about malware from hotspot shield hsscp.exe.
Ive used hotspot shield for quite a while with no issue so its a little alarming that it has started to throw alerts at me now.
Ive ran a MBAM scan which came up with nothing malicious and Im currently running a MBAM Anti Rootkit scan which so far has found nothing.
is it possible this is just a false positive and if so, why has Avast only just started picking it up as malware from today?

If anyone could help it woud be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Anti rootkit scan has just finished and has found nothing either. Am I safe just marking it as a false positive? Im only weary on the off chance that something might have hijacked files in the hotspot shield folder on my laptop.

And what does avast say?

Have you uploaded and tested the file at www.virustotal.com if tested before, click new scan
Post link to scan result here

No, ive not checked it on that site.
Ill check it and post what it says on the alert the next time it pops up

Was the file destination wpad.wpad ? If so it was a false positive and is in the process of being resolved

I think it was wpad.dat.

Would that be the same thing and still be a false positive?

Yes a stream update is being released to fix it
