Had to restore my computer to factory settings so I had to do some work updating everything etc. Inevitably I’ve received some infections. None of them appear to be serious, but I’ve attached all logs etc.
In addition to the avast boot log it also found, on a runtime scan:
C:\hp\bin\ProcessLogger.exe - PUP: Win32:PUP-gen[PUP]
C:\System Volume Information_restore{F7149EC7-4FA5-4148-81FA-2F7A6348FD9A}\RP25\A0008858.EXE Threat:Win32:Malware-gen
C:\Program Files\Online Services\BT\1890hpbt.EXE Threat:Win32:Malware-gen
They are mainly HP junk files and are of no major import Looks good otherwise
Thanks. What about this file? I noticed you haven’t downloaded it and I think it found something different (something bundled with sopcast I think).
Sopcast is P2P programme that is bundled with other software is that the one you are on about ?
No, I know what sopcast is, it just seemed that something arrived bundled with sopcast.
Also Avast says Java is not updated, whereas FileHippo says it is.
There is a mismatch in one decimal point between what Java reports to Avast and the actual update, so that is a Java error. But, you are up to date
The bundled stuff was removed via AdwCleaner
You could use JRT to see if the other programmes missed any adware elements
Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
[]Right-mouse click JRT.exe and select “Run as Administrator” the tool will open and start scanning your system
[]please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system’s specifications
[]On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
[]post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
JRT just scans, tells me what its scanning but says access is denied each time, then produces no report.
Did you right click and run as administrator ?
As HPAdministrator. When I tried as Administrator it told me I needed a password.
If you are the Administrator it needs the password for authentification.
If you are a standard user and someone else is the administrator you need the password from him.
There shouldn’t be a password. I’m the only user so I don’t know how there should be another administrator.
One strange problem I’m having is Epson Scan won’t start.
Maybe HP created something on the Harddrive. For example my laptop is from ASUS and i have an recovery partition on my hard drive
which i can not delete.
Do you log on your computer by using a password ?
Yet Adwcleaner and all other programmes ran OK
