I try to log on to my Paypal account @ paypal.com. Avast instanly has a malware block even without typing my ermail and password.
I have Windows 7 home premium with internet exploer 9. If I use Firefox everything seems fine. Just wondering if Avast is fixing this problem.

I got that notice this morning.
I have just logged on to my PayPal account (using firefox) and no issues.
Im getting warnings also from Avast. At first I thought is was a bad link from my store, then I logged into my Paypal account and the warning came up there too.
I’m getting exactly the same alert. It happened also some times ago, but it seemed a false positive.
Oh Horray! Another false positive. Seriously, if they don’t get their act together, how are we going to know when there is a REAL problem??? Why always Paypal where my finances are at stake? smh
Hi ginsamom,
FP happen and mostly do not last longer as the next update coming in.
All av solutions have these false detection as the verification process may be rather complicated…
Whever you want all-round security, you have to live with the occasional FP…
or live in a Russian roulette security environment…

But is it actually a false positive?
Same here. One of my client sites reported this, and I’m able to duplicate the issue on my own computer.
To get around it, as the issue seems to be an infected VBScript or bad detection of a good VBScript, simply use some other browser besides Internet Explorer.
Chrome, Firefox, etc. will work fine, as those browsers don’t use VBScript.
However, I am still able to execute transactions on PayPal, so the popups do NOT block it!
I don’t get this alert – we need that file
You can send the file via email to avast lab
virus@avast.com
put “suspicious” to email subject
Very apt and logical thought, jefferson santiag…

Done!
This service is widely used here in Brazil ;D
something is definitely wrong
Expect the release of another update to fix the problem.
The FP report can also be send right from within the pop-up message,
polonus
Does that REPORT INCLUDE THE AFFENDING FILE? sorry caps lock key malfunction!
No, but as you have the file in chest you can send it directly from there,
pol
Yes, sir, that was done before!
Send it to Avast. Hope they can fix the problem soon.
