malware or fp???

I was scanning my computer with malwarebytes and i found 1 infected file. However, avast did not detect it. I sent the file the virustotal and and the results was 28/43.

is this a false positive or malware?

sorry i just joined the forums so i am unsure of these kind of things

It is very rare to see malwarebytes with a false positive…
and when it also have a 28 /43 (65.1%) score on VT i am pretty sure it is malware…just the file name here indicate malware

most of the virustotal community rated it as goodware , so should i trust them ???
and if it is a virus, how do i send it to avast since avast currently doesn’t detect it?

Regardless of the avast detection 28/43 is enough for me to avoid it…

Well, we know what the file is, what do you expect with a keygen for Dreamweaver...

Open avast → maintenance → virus chest → right click → add… → find the file and add it → right click and send submit to avast

I’ll take 43 AV scanners over someone’s opinion anyday…

yes, it is keygen of dreamweaver . i think i downloaded it last time for a project but didn’t use it. are keygens always highly suspected of being malicious?

I wouldn’t call the VT results as most of the virustotal community considering it goodware, the reverse on these results. The VT results don’t mean something is good even if many of them didn’t detect it. Given that it is a keygen would say circumventing payment for a product (theft) could hardly be considered good.

Aside from any legal/moral issues about using keygens - Keygens and cracks are always high risk as they frequently come with uninvited guests. Should your system get infected as a result of downloading a keygen who are you going to complain to.
