manual update while disabled freezes update progress

I had stopped on-access protection and had the circle with the line on the ‘a’ icon. I selected Updating->Program Update, trying to update from 4.6.650. It downloaded and installed the update, so it seems. But I still have the green & red update arrows in the system tray, and I still have a process running called ‘avast.setup’ with the parent being ‘ashDisp.exe’. It’s been about 15 minutes and it’s still there.

Starting the On-Access Protection hasn’t changed anything. It’s still there. But I did try to access the ‘Update (Basic)->Details’ during this time, and ‘avast! settings’ is not responding anymore.

This is by design… While updating you cannot change the updating parameters…
But, if you kill the avast.setup process the icon (red and green) will disapear.
The ashDisp.exe is the other icon (‘a’ blue).
For any reason, the update process does not end well and the icon remained there…
