Many Connection Timeouts in Thunderbird

I’ve been using Avast 4home Editon about 9 month. Everything was fine until 1-2 weeks ago.

Since this time every connection to IMAP, POP or NNTP is very slow and I get connection timeouts many times. SMTP connections are very slow, too - but they are successfull.

Today I got an error message, which told me something about the connection limit in avast.

Because of beeing able to use my configuration for a long time now, I don’t know why these problems occur since 1-2 weeks? Could it be related to an avast update?

Avast: 4.6.665
Vps: 0523-5

Thunderbird 1.0.2 / Thunderbird 1.1a1 (problems occur in both versions)

Outpost Firewall Pro 2.7 (problems occured in the last days of 2.6, too)

3 NNTP-Accounts
7 POP3-Accounts
3 IMAP-Accounts (using IDLE-Mode and many connections because of many folders).

Is it possible to edit the connections limit in Avast?

Sure, click Settings in my signature and browse for the [MailScanner] section of avast4.ini file.

Are you running any other anti-virus software on your system at the same time as Avast?
