MBR:Alureon-K [Rtk]

I’m not sure if I’m posting on the right place but anyways my computer recently got infected with a virus and avast got rid of it, but after a boot scan reveals that Alureon-K is on the computer. I read online some solutions but apparently i need to put the log from aswMBR.exe in order for you to help me but it never executes, the same problem with the TDSS killer. Is there another way to run the program or to show a log with the problem?

So neither TDSSKiller or aswMBR run

[*] Download RogueKiller and save it on your desktop.
[*]Quit all programs
[*] Start RogueKiller.exe.
[*] Wait until Prescan has finished …
[*] Click on Scan

[*]Wait for the end of the scan.
[*] The report has been created on the desktop.
[*] Click on the Delete button.

This is the bad boy

I have just revamped the instructions for this infection, could you let me know if there are any problems or errors

I need you to download:
gparted-live-0.10.0-3.iso (115.1 MB)

Create a bootable CD, for Gparted from the ISO image.

You can use ImgBurn do this.

Now boot off of the newly created Gparted CD.

You should be here… Press ENTER

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Gpart-Start.GIF

By default, “do not touch keymap” is highlighted.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Gpart-keyselect.GIF

Leave this setting alone and just press ENTER.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Gpart-continue.GIF

Choose your language and press ENTER. English is default [33]

At the mode prompt enter 0, press ENTER

You will now be taken to the main GUI screen below

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Gpart-partitions.GIF

According to your logs, the partition that you want to delete is <1 MB

Right click this partition and select delete .

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/GPart-delete.GIF

The Partition has gone

Now select Apply

Now you should be here:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Areyousure.GIF

Select Apply after double checking that the right partition was deleted

Is “boot” next to your OS drive?
If “boot” is not next to your OS drive under “Flags”, right-mouse click the OS drive while in Gparted and select Manage Flags

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/GPart-flags.GIF

In the menu that pops up, place a checkmark in boot like the picture below, then close :

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/GPart-bootflag.GIF

Under File select Quit

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Gpart-quit.GIF

You will see this small Popup

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Gpart-reboot.GIF

Choose reboot and then press OK.

Ok, I did what you told me, didn’t encounter any problems. What should i do now?

Were the instructions clear and easy to follow ?

Could you now run aswMBR please and follow up with a fresh OTL scan selecting all users

Also how is the computer behaving ?

Yeah, everything was in the exact order and with the screenshots made it more easier to know i was going on the right path.

The computer is now running faster, an error of the catalyst is no longer showing, the icons and programs are back, the search engine is not freezing anymore.

For the aswMBR is finally running, the quick scan log is the following,

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [emptytemp] [Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Go to control panel
[*]Select folder options (Appearance > Folder options in category view)
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.

[]Select OK
[
]Select Delete

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes. Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit

[*]Microsoft Windows Update

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?

Keep safe

The programs ran without any problems, the programs u said were eliminated, the computer seems to be running smoothly and updated the programs that needed to. I guess all that’s left to say is thank you, really made my day knowing that my computer was back to normal. I hope i don’t have to visit the site for more assistance hehe. Thanks
