Hi:
I recently used the server edition and it found “Memory.Dmp” as Worm on my windows 2000 server. As usual, found it then deleted it. But the problem is now the Cable internet connection becomes very slow, almost running like dialup.
I vaguely remember today, this happended to my another computer with the home edition Avast, same worm same problem occured afterwards.
Memory.dmp is a dump file, created previously by the operating system (during a crash). The file is completely useless (for the running of the operating system; it can be used to debug the problem, of course) - so deleting it cannot have any effect.
The file had been deleted, but after the deletion my cable internet connection is very very slow. And this same problem happended to me twice. Can’t be that lucky, right?
By the way, it is wireless network connected to cable modem. And my Netgear status appears to be normal at around 24-36mbps. Except the connection is slow.
