I have for a while been using the AMS 2.x Beta (incl. the latest 2.0.2709).
Yesterday I upgraded to the official version of AMS (ver. 2.0.2750) and realized that the memory usage for AMS + AT has gone up with ~50% (9,1 MB → 15,1 MB).
I monitored the memory usage on the Beta and I have now for a day been monitoring the memory usage on the latest version.
Is there any reason for the increase in memory usage or is this by misstake?
The additional 6MB causes problems on my kids low end phone with less RAM.
what tools do you use to analyze the memory usage? I just checked and apart from bugfixes (mainly in Network Meter), nothing have changed in the release compared to beta 2.
I am mainly using Androids build in App Manager and App2SD (which in the end uses the same information).
I have seen this increase of used memory on two different phones (SE Xperia Arc S + HTC Wildfire S).
During the Beta testing I was comparing the memory usage between the 1.0 and 2.0 since I in the “** INTRODUCING: avast! Mobile Security 2 Beta **” thread read that someone had seen problems in this area. I then came to the conclusion that there only was i minor increase of used memory between the latest 1.0-version and the latest 2.0 beta-version (so something must have happened when building the release-version).
Just a thought, are there any differences in the build machinery/envirionment between the Beta-version and the build of the Release-version?
I know that some companies do a more formal product build when releasing something while the intermediate builds might be build in a simplified way.
I think we in this case are talking about ROM.
If I look in the Task Manager get a different value which I guess is the more dynamic memory usage, i.e. RAM.
