We receive diffrent kinds of customer feedback that they got mails with the following mail text:
Message body could not be scanned and was removed for your safety.
First indication is that the Avast e-mail shield is responsible for this.
There must be some kind of change happen with that component?!?
This happens obviously randomly to mails, there is no pattern when or why it happens!
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
We will open a case for this.
Update on this:
Avast support has confirmed today they implemented a fix for the long time not working Exchange plugin…
After some tests last week I can confirm that this issue did occure only with customers using Exchange!
Basic infos for this case:
Case ID: 16002482
Case open since: june 2022!!
was already topic here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=322523.0
What a nightmare of a support case!!!
Update:
Today 2 customers confirmed having that „Message body could not be scanned and was removed for your safety.“ issue.
Another issue seems to flank this one: There is no ExchangeShield.log file under c:\programdata\avast software\avast\log\
Quick action for further troubleshooting: disableing exchange plugin/shield via global policy and reboot the servers.
Expected behavior: problem will disapear, needs to be confirmed
Next action: after confirming that the problem has gone we will ask Avast support to investigate this issue at their end
A fix has been implemented, we watch now how it is going.
First indication is that the plugin at least is working: As of today I got the first detection in a long time from one of our customer Exchange servers using the plugin!
Update on this case: This issue still persits and came back with a mail including an attachment. This time the attachment could not be scanned.
Update:
After feedback from the Avast support we found out that the latest result was because the mail attachment was password protected!
We will now run additional tests to clarify some things here.
Unfortunately the Exchange plugin is not documented very well: https://businesshelp.avast.com/Content/Products/AfB_Management_Consoles/ConfiguringSettingsandPolicies/ExchangeServerRecs.htm
Hi Tom610, the Exchange Shield settings are detailed in this page.
