I had some trouble recently with my computer, and my internet provider told me that it was due to Avast stopping me to open the websites. (messenger and google talk were working properly, but I could not open the corresponding websites to see the mails).
I played a bit with all the possibilities (on and off, changing the options, etc.)
Finally it get fixed alone, I supposed it was a provider problem.
After that I have two different questions
Is it possible that the problem above was really due to AVAST?
I changed many options and now I have messages appearing on the screen to each screen access. That was interesting to see what was happening during the troubles, but now I want to turn them off, but i don’t find how :(. Could you help, please?
Thank you and still time to say Happy New Year, I guess
I would like to talk with the technician… seems he’s just guessing without knowing how avast works. avast scans, does not block. If an infection is detected in a website, you’ll be warned and you can block the connection. If you’re not warned (in the free version and default settings) which is ‘blocking’ is not avast.
Is this page being displayed?
/ENGLISH/HtmlData/Blocked.htm
If not, it’s not avast…
About the messages… well, they’re just info…
It seems that you’ve changed the avast settings without knowing exactly what you were doing… This is an option disabled by default. You can turn it off going to the Standard Shield provider settings, Advanced tab an unchecking ‘Show detailed information on action performed’. You can do this for the other providers too.
