MICROS~1.vbs/ wscript virus problem.

I think my computer has been infected with a virus from a friend’s pen-drive. All USB drives I connect to my system get their files hidden as protected system file , and “*.lnk” shortcuts being created for each file hidden. There is a “MICROS~1.VBS” file in the pendrive which reappears every-time I delete it.

I have updated version of avast which has even failed to detect the problem. Please help. :frowning:

I had gone through a similar post previously, but the instructions were specific to the other poster’s system. Is there any generic approach, or would anyone here help me through the process of removing this MICROS~1.vbs file?

Hi,

Please refrain from using USB, until we clean the system. Unplug USB and do not use it!

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

[*]Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Under Optional Scan ensure “List BCD” and “Driver MD5” are ticked.
[*]Press Scan button.
[*]It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
[*]The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

=========================================

Please download aswMBR and save it to your desktop.

Double click aswMBR.exe to start the tool.

[*]Select Yes if prompted to download the Avast database.
[*]Click Scan
[*]Upon completion of the scan ( Scan finished successfully ) click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review.

Hello,

Here the files are attached as wanted. But aswMBR.exe stopped working as soon as I ran the scan. What should I do about it?

try to run aswMBR from safe mode… if no go TwinHeadedEagle has other tools.

:frowning: aswMBR.exe failed to respond in Safe Mode too. :expressionless:

Leave Aswmbr for now, we will take care of that later…
