Microsoft Teams form effecting avast browser

I tried to download a Microsoft teams form to avast secure browser. I got a big white box in the middle of the screen saying “Sorry this product is not supported in your location”

If I press the exit option I get logged out of avast. I end up going round in circles.

How can I get around this please?

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member and I don’t use ASB.
Does it work in another browser ?
As part of the fact may be Avasts Secure Browser may be stopping the MS Teams from determining your location.

Hi David, thank you for this.

Yes you are right I had my VPN on. The Microsoft teams has blocked my access. I suspect that there wasn’t a teams licence for the country I was logged in as. I did this unknowingly.

I liaised with avast first line support we tried all the usual stuff ie uninstalling and rebooting my PC etc but the problem remains. They have passed it onto second line support.

I will update…

You’re welcome.

Whilst VPNs can be very handy for hiding your ass  they can also prevent location discovery. This could cause what is being found here.

I don’t know if you can add an exclusion for the teams location either in the VPN (you didn’t say which) and or Avast.

Not had a response as yet from avast

I suspect 2nd line support will take some time, to A. find the issue and B. resolve it.

Did you try adding an exclusion as I suggested.

I have never really been a fan of the ASB product, as by its nature, being a secure browser it limits what you can do with it and what add-ons you can include. For me that is a bit of a dark art as I don’t think it is clearly defined what it does to ensure that security and how it might interact with some sites, security related measures, such as Teams, etc.

Thanks I’ll take a look over the weekend.
