I was installing Office on my new notebook, and suddenly an Avast! popup showed up, saying that it had deleted the .exe-file which was about to install Microsoft Word.
Now all of the Office programs open flawlessly, but I cannot open Microsoft Word. What should I do? I have never worked with Avast! before, so I don’t know if I can take the file out of the “security net”?
First nothing should be deleted by default, this is either a user decision or changing the default actions ?
Is an old version of Office as older versions didn’t have a digitally signed word or excel executables ?
Not entirely sure what avast Shield, etc. is pinging this, but I suspect the autosandbox.
Just add the Word (and excel if the same with this) to the AutoSandbox Exclusions - File System Shield > Settings > AutoSandbox > Files that will be excluded from automatic sandboxing - see image, I had to add my two to the list.
Many thanks for your reply I installed the newest version of Office, Office 15. I “de-sandboxed” (in the way you explained it - thanks for that) the following file: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\WINWORD.EXE. Still, Word doesn’t open. It is ridiculous.
Is there a “recently deleted files”-folder or something? I’m not sure what the problem is since I’m quite a cyberdolt, but if Avast! really deleted something, can’t I just get it back?
Can you attach any avast alerts or notice windows as I really can’t get a handle on what the avast interaction is (if it isn’t the autosandbox) or why it would be deleted.
Thanks for your reply. I can try to find something, but I don’t know where this information could be, since I only saw two popups popping into my screen - they went away quite soon. Can I see it in Avast somewhere, maybe?
