I missed that Avast Passwords was scheduled to go away. In the last update it disappeared and Avast Password Manager loaded. Trying to migrate. How can I get to my old password list? When I follow the instructions to sync within Avast Free Antivirus, I go through Menu >Settings >General >Troubleshooting >Still having problems? >Add/modify Components. At this point, the instructions say the next screen should have an option labeled Passwords (old). That doesn’t exist.
Is there any way to recover my old list of passwords? Everything I try just circles back to this point. Even if I can’t do an automatic migration, just getting to the list would be a big help.
I really don’t want to go to the paid version, not so much because of the cost, but because the password list is saved to the cloud instead of locally. But if a paid subscription would fix this, I’ll do it.
For the free version im not sure as ive only ever used premium since 2012
The old password manager was end of life in Feburary this year and gave us the option to migrate to the web based password manager. That option has been removed from the UI interface now so im not sure how to best advise.
Which web brouser are you using? firefox, chrome, edge etc. you need to add the Extention. 3 dots or lines on top right of browser, either look for extentions and themes or go to settings and it should be in there. download the avast password manager extention. I still have no idea how to then export your old passwords as i have no idea where they will be stored.
Asking @DavidR who uses the free version. have you got password manager David?
No, I never felt the need.
Outside of the Firefox integrated one, I regularly synchronise it which saves all your browser settings and also your saved passwords, etc.
If I install firefox on another system I can synchronise that and it pulls down all settings and saved passwords.
I also store them off-line, I can even print that off as the actual passwords are just cryptic clues as to what they are, something very memorable to me and not something that can be guessed.
You were given link to Avast Passwords the sub-forum where you are more likely to find a related answer. I would suggest that you use it.
I responded because I was asked a specific question.
My answer was my choice not to use the avast that I have been using long before the Avast Passwords function was available.app but something already available to me
