after database updates (100903-1), i realized my firewall lock icon was gone. restart PC and modem didnt help. is this problem related to the updates?
if you disable the firewall do you get notice from windows security center that the firewall is of? if yes and you put it back on its should be ok and is protecting your computer.
i would advise you to install a third party firewall like comodo, outpost. because they have better protection then the built in firewall in windows xp. the xp windows firewall has not any inbound protection thats only availably in vista.
but the third party firewalls i menaced has inbound protection so they give you better protection.
hope this will be a good answer for you and last welcome to the forum.
thanks for the reply mikaelrask. Yes, i do not have third party firewall, just the default from windows. Maybe i should try the other one.

yes…when i disabled the firewall, my windows security center told me that the firewall is off. and when i turn it on, the padlock icon show. But if i restart the machine, sometimes, the padlock is gone. maybe it’s XP’s glitch… i dont know. ???
