I have been using mkv2vob for over a year now but today when I tried to open it Avast 7 instantly deleted the icon from my desktop. This program has been through several scans, not only from Avast but from 2 or 3 other online scanners I use to check the effectiveness of my AV.
Avast has been the most reliable program on my PC for 4 years now but since v7 was released I have had at least 3 other false positives and an instance where Avast was utterly unable to start forcing an uninstallation in safe mode with the removal tool and subsequent re- installation. I find it incomprehensible why a company with the reputation Avast has would risk it all with such a buggy release that seems like it should still be in beta. Please please deal with this Alwil or the excellent work in building a solid and loyal fanbase will be undone in weeks.
Just ran it through the suggested page and McAfee alone reported “Heuristic.BehavesLike.Win32.Downloader.A” no result from any other provider including Avast. I reported the supposed false positive which happened just after I had carried out a full scan with no threat found.
In addition (this should probably be another thread) Webrep doesn’t work, I am unable to install additional languages and while Avast was scanning my computer was almost unusable, a predicament I have never encountered while scanning before. C’mon guys it isn’t only me having issues with v7.
I too have just had loader.exe in MK2VOB reported as a virus.
I have been regulary doing deep scans on a monthly basis on my PC for many years with this application installed and no reported issue.
Tried using today and got this
avast! [DESKTOP]: File “C:\Program Files\mkv2vob\loader.exe” is infected by “Win32:Malware-gen” virus.
