Please be advised that this is a known issue on Avast Business Security 26.1 and our development team is already working on a resolution.
A mi me ocurre lo mismo. Espero lo solucionen pronto.
We are currently investigating a performance issue with the latest SMB Antivirus 26.1 release where the Avast Outlook add‑in may cause Outlook to freeze when opening or downloading attachments. Multiple Outlook versions can be affected.
Workaround (until a fix is released):
- Disable the AVG/Avast Outlook add‑in.
- Restart the Outlook client with add‑in disabled.
Our engineering team is actively working on a permanent fix. We will provide an updated status as soon as more information is available.
Logging into a remote PC and disabling the Avast plug-in while a customer is looking on in disbelief is not exactly a good look. Why not just roll back to the previous release and debug this one properly ? We can’t roll out this botch workaround on our entire estate without risking a mass exodus.
Same problem here… we have a server with more than 50 users who cannot attach documents in Outlook. When they try to attach files, the popup window freezes. However, they can drag and drop files into a new email without any issue.
The problem occurs when the file attachment dialog opens. We’re seeing the same issue on many other clients using Avast Business as well.
Please mark this issue as high priority. I don’t think disabling the Outlook plugin is a proper solution.
Is there any progress regarding this problem, we have 1000’s of Avast Business Customers devices, and this problem means they cant use outlook, I 100% Agree with Steve_Hooper, its currently nightmare disabling the Add-In in outlook on all these customers,
Is there currently an ETA on the working fix ?

It seems that the latest virus definition update, 260310-2, includes a fix for the issue.
Could you please confirm?
