hi,first time in forum.have been getting virus warnings from avast sign of multi:binaryiframec:\documents\mypictures have had all the pictures for weeks.
this only started yesterday since i connected a ps3 to my network.have never come across this before, any advice would be much appreciated thank you, sorry if posted in wrong place.
Can you say what is the infected file name, where was it found (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx)?
Can you submit the file to www.virustotal.com and post back the results?
What avast! version and virus database are you using? (see About dialog of avast!)
hi thank for the reply,it was pictures that i had downloaded which i have now deleted,am using latest version of avast with latest virus database, have since scanned pc and all is now good. Was just a bit baffled because have never come across multi binary before.many thanks.
version 4.8 database version 081013-0
If you suspect of infection, I suggest:
- Clean your temporary files.
- Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
- Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
- Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
- Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
- Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
- Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
- Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
This was a new, bit of generic detection. We’ve decided to remove it, it’s in the internal build, but will take few days to remove, due to technical problems on our side.
It basically detects html stuff added at the end of the media files - there should not be anything. But it seems there is a wealth of low quality services which automatically mangle media files in such a way…
There is another topic with this same issue (multi binary iframe), http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=39339.msg330089#msg330089.
pics were not of any importance so nothing lost.thank for the advice.
