I removed it by using a free Norton utility - http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.aspx? Then I restored the PC to a previous restore point. It was much quicker than any other method.
A subsequent MBAM scan showed that 2 files were still present! MBAM removed them.
You could just use a working serial.I used to to crack such fake av’s at summer,it was borring.I got a huge list of serials, for almost all av’s,from xylitol and some i collected. However they are like old(4-5 months),and i don’t know if they work. However it is known that authors don’t update the programs in order to change the serial though.
Watpo, you might have saved my day. I was trying to download a TV episode and my Avast software caught this fake a/v. I backed out but it still slammed me and cut off everything. But that Norton tool detected it and deleted it. Did a simple restore and then had a bunch of updates to run, but so far so good.
You’re obviously way more computer literate than I am! I’ve no idea what you’re talking about. :-[ Now you know why I chose the Norton-restore method (as detailed above)!
