For some reason on boot up this morn I opened Task Manager (which I keep an eye on like a hawk) and noticed something that was out the common and the blue. Two AvastUI.exe had appeared with the same path and after a search around I have not found much aid to discern on whether it is ok, or whether I have an issue.
I’ve included a screenshot.
Both lead to C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast . Both contain the information included below.
Some help would be wonderful as I’m admittedly a bit of a paranoid person ^^
Virus scans on Avast and MBAM have turned up nothing so far.
What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)
Already performed a repair of avast ?
Already performed a clean installation of the latest avast version ?
etc.
Strange I have never seen that on boot, the only time I have seen multi avastUI.exe entries is when I have the UI open and click an option that opens another window.
But that was in an earlier version, particularly when looking at the Stats section (not in the latest version).
That said, since you don’t even have the avastUI opening on boot, the above is a moot point, first try an avast repair, if that doesn’t resolve it you are looking at a clean reinstall.
