Must disable AOS to get IE11 from crashing

Have windows 7 and have loaded Avast internet security. both Win7 and Avast are up to date as well as all KBs for IE11. after the last update on Avast a week or so ago, IE11 started to hang and now gives and error AppHangB1 or AppHangxB1. cleared cookies, uninstall (as much as you can anyway) IE11 and reinstall. Finally, disabling the AOS add on and everything works. Unfortunately it now looks like it is affecting Firefox also. What is the fix for this besides dumping Avast?

Hi

Just like you did for IE11 completely uninstall AOS from IE11 and firefox. Uninstall AOS via add/remove. Right click avast and click uninstall/change. After that click on custom. Select AOS and let avast uninstall AOS for you. After that do a restart.

Ok so i uninstalled IE, reboot, uninstalled firefox, reboot, uninstalled Avast, reboot. then reinstalled IE, reboot, reinstalled Firefox, reboot, reinstalled from my original 3-3-14 installation download, reboot and everything works. update avast with the new release on 4-17-14, acts little wierd, plugins show 2x on both firefox and IE, reboot and everything seems to work now. Jeez, all this for an update to Avast??? Really?? we’ll see what happens next time. if this is a repeat, Avast is gone, i don’t care if i do have another 11 months left on it.

oh and i had to re-install Java and Flash with reboots after each one. all in all about a 2 hours journey to get my system working again.

Shadefly it was unnecessary for you to uninstall IE and firefox just to remove AOS. All you had to do is follow my first reply.
