I was logged out of Avast without my knowledge and my extensions disappeared, and now I see that Bing is my default search engine, I have tried to install google back as my default but the option is greyed out and so is the option to delete Bing. my browser also crashes when I try and open a private window. please tell me that there is a fix
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member. I also don’t use the Avast Secure Browser, so I modified your basic question “now I see that Bing is my default search engine.”
how to remove Bing is my default search engine
You should be able to do it from the three dots menu in the Avast Secure Browser,
yip have tried that, and that’s where it is greyed out. when you press add new, there is no drop down menu, so I put the google URL in and it adds google but the option to make Google your default is greyed out and the option to delete Bing is greyed out.
I modified the search and the AI Overview shows Two other suggestions.
1 Remove Bing Apps and Extensions, 2 Disable Bing in Windows Search.
how to remove bing from my computer
There are lots of other hits on these search results if the AI Overview suggestions didn’t work.
Thank you David.
You’re welcome.
I take it that the problem is now gone ?
No, all the quick fixes, I have tried already don’t work, A full virus scan reveals nothing, A repair of the browser does not fix AI is suggesting that I uninstall and go manually through looking for malicious entries. I will loose a lot of Tab book marks, I was just thanking you for your time.
