MyGov Australia's main government services website is blocked by Avast

I just tried to login to MyGov, Australia’s main government website for access to government services and Avast blocked it with the message

We’ve blocked the threat URL:Phishing on login.my.gov.au from being downloaded.

There were 2 detections with alert ID’s

69c3cec73fac/2022-08-01T03:36:00.531Z

and

a7dfd2e6f1c4/2022-08-01T03:36:20.117Z

The exact same website worked fine yesterday.

The version of Avast I’m using is

Avast Free Antivirus

Program version: 21.11.2500 (build 21.11.6809.528)

Virus definitions version: 220731-6

Number of definitions: 24,312,035

UI version: 1.0.719

MyGov is the portal for

Australian Taxation Office
Centrelink
Child Support
Department of Health Applications Portal
Department of Veterans’ Affairs
HousingVic Online Services
Individual Healthcare Identifiers Service
Medicare
My Aged Care
My Health Record
National Cancer Screening Register
National Disability Insurance Scheme
National Redress Scheme
State Revenue Office Victoria
Workforce Australia

so I doubt very much that they are trying to Phish. I’ve been getting so many false/nanny state messages (several a day) from Avast lately that it is no longer viable using it.

Hi DavidR,

Thank you for the info.

It’s not being blocked anymore though and the virus definition has been updated to 220801-0, so I’m guessing that when a country’s government tells you’ve got it wrong, things tend to get fixed fast.

You’re welcome.
