This is my 1st post here & I’ve looked thru a lot of other posts, before deciding to put mine up. Sorry if it is one that has already been posted.
Is there a page where you have a list of the items that have already been answered?
My husband has been having a lot of problems for quite some time now. He’s been using AVG, with seemingly, no problems … until the last month or two. He finally asked me to help today.
I uninstalled the AVG & installed Avast, which is what I use on my computers. I set it to check the computer on next boot-up. It has already found MyWebSearchWB\bar\1.bin\W6BAR (dot DLL) & related files.
I allowed it to delete the infected files it finds by selecting all. The program is still running at this moment. : )
My question is … Is there a list of the entries that also need to be deleted that belong to this “MyWebSearchWB” bar? I know that I will have to clean out the temp files … what is your advice?
If you like to do it manually, please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove MyWebSearch Toolbar.Emailplug. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If MyWebSearch Toolbar.Emailplug remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.
Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
Browse to the key:
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run’
In the right pane, delete the value called ‘MyWebSearch Email Plugin’, if it exists.
Browse to the key:
‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run’
In the right pane, delete the value called ‘MyWebSearch Email Plugin’, if it exists.
;)Hello Plynn! & wellcome to the avast! forum!
Well first of all IMHO better choice was tu put those files to the Chest, from where they can’t do any harm to your husband PC. As an addition I suggest to use some antispyware solutions software like AVG Antispyware from www.ewido.com , or Spybot - S&D from www.safer-networking.org , as the file you describe belongs to well known adware. Or try to Google your request
Personally, I prefer not to keep adding more programs to a computer, if I don’t really need them. Therefore, I respectfully decline the toolbarcop, since Avast will be checking everything once the system is clean.
I have used the regedit quite a lot & seldom had a problem, so appreciate the advice on what to find in it, to remove! Many Thanks!
If you think of anything else that I should check for, please post it & I will be checking the forum again throughout the day. : )
Thanks soooo much!
