Today, during a scan, Avast Home 4.8 flagged “dvdrip 0.2.exe” as a virus and I can’t figure out why.
It came from here:

This detection has not occurred previously, but now I can’t even upload the file to VirusTotal. What gives?
It’s a generic detection as are the other detections except for Ikarus’s.

Put the file in a password protected zip file and send to virus[at]avast.com mentioning the password and that it’s a possible false positive in the body of the email. (You may need to temporarily disable avast to be able to do this.)
idk if this is related, but this morning on my other laptop Avast flagged superantispyware.exe as containing a virus and refused to allow it to run. This has never happened before.
However, since DVD Rip is simply a script (I think) then this may have some connection:
