Need Avast Free 21.4

I have an old computer on Windows 7 which has a CPU with SSE2 instructions but not SSE3. From what I understand, Avast version 21.4 was the last one to support a non-SSE3 CPU.

Does anyone know where I can download a copy of Avast Free 21.3 or 21.4 for Windows 7 32-bit?

I ask about 21.3 as I have heard 21.4 has some issues.

I’m not sure when the SSE3 requirement came in.

However you should be able to get it here - https://www.filepuma.com/download/avast_free_antivirus-2/versions/

From here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=292731.0

The latest renderer version stopped supporting CPUs without SSE3, so we needed to add an install block and freeze users using this older pieces of HW on 21.4 version
Unless it meant something else.

Also, in the official minimum requirements: https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Install-Free-Antivirus/

Windows fully compatible PC with Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 processor or above (must support SSE3 instructions);

Though, the part about “Windows 7 SP2” is a bit misleading, since there’s no such official thing as SP2. That was just an unofficial name for a set of updates released since SP1. Windows’s info will still show SP1.

No.

Because they provide only online installers for 21.3 there, so it would install the latest version automatically.

It’s actually difficult to find an offline installer for a specific version, as many sites simply provide a direct link to the latest version for differently named variants.

What CPU do you have specifically?

You can use the classic version of CPU-Z to determine it better: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

That’s a really old CPU, if it doesn’t even support SSE3… So I’m surprised Windows 7 works well on that PC.

That’s a bummer as this site was ones of the only one retaining offline installation files for old versions, looks like they stopped on version 21.0 (or rather the last version of 20.10) and went on-line installation only, which is pretty useless for cases like this.

I have just looked on filepuma, there are multiple pages of Avast versions going back to v8.
v20.9 and older are big filesizes, so are offline installers.

It is dissapointing that more recent versions are small filesizes, so are online installer stubs only.

Is an old Northwood 3.2 GHz single core. I am disabled and trying to save up money for a new computer, but need some A/V as ESET just cut me off also (version end of lifed).

That’s what I am learning. Seems an offline install for 21.3 is not around anywhere.

Yes it is a pain, and filepuma was one of the better ones retaining the offline installations, but their policy change is crazy as they might as well not offer any 21.x.xxxx versions as the online installation as that would require an internet connect connection and that would try to install the latest version.

Now I don’t know if trying the 21.3 online version would work or not. I’m wondering if that would check to see if your system meets version requirements (SSE3).

The other option would be to try the last 20.9 version full off-line installation.
In both of the above suggestions you would probably need to disable program updates if you manage to get it installed, to try and block updates past that version.

Well many thanks DavidR. If there are any other sites you think I should look on let me know. Google does not appear to really have anything except Filepuma. Your ideas may be my best bet. As I mentioned, am trying to come up with the $$$ to get a new PC, but am disabled so income is not huge here. Sad part is I almost put in an SSE3 processor but at the time, figured the Northwood was better than the Prescott.
