Need Avast Free version 12 - where can I find? - Filehippo doesn't have

I need the full off-line installer for Avast Free 12. Unfortunately, ALL of Filehippo’s links are actually to new version 17 even if the links say they are 12.

I need 12 because 17 will NOT install in XP Mode (Windows Virtual PC on a Win 7 Pro “host”). (See my other thread https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=198863.0 .)

So, where to find Avast AV Free version 12 ? ???

Thanks.

Did you try to install when disconnected from net?

Pondus - thanks for asking.

In the downloads of what is supposed to be older version 12 from Filehippo, the resulting off-line install files show “Properties” of “Version 17” and Digital Signature date of February 27, 2017 (which is definitely version 17).

Somehow, the Filehippo links no longer point to a source for the older versions.

Does anyone know where I can actually get the full offline installer for Avast AV Free version 12 ?

Hi glnz!

Send a pm to DJBone. I think, he will manage that.

you may check here http://www.oldversion.com/

Snake - how do I send a VM to DJBone? Don’t I need a link to his user name ?

Pondus - thanks for suggestion. Unfortunately, oldversion.com has only Avast AV Free versions 4 and 7. Those are not “old”; they’re “ancient”.

Still looking for Avast AV Free version 12.

It is a PM (Personal Message) not VM.

In his post above there is PM icon, clicking that opens the PM function.

Thx, David.

You’re welcome.

@glnz: I’ve sent you a PM :slight_smile:

Mr. Bone - Got the PM (for my VM). Thanks.

Now if only I can figure out how to make that link appear somehow in my XP Mode “machine” so I can download it there. So far, I have not been able to make the XP Mode “machine” and my normal real machines appear in the same “Network”. Hmmm.

Mr. Bone and everyone - I have successfully downloaded and installed Avast AV Free 12 in my XP Mode, was able to update definitions ONLY, and it’s now running a boot-time scan.

Proof positive that Avast 17 is faulty.

Many thanks.

You’re welcome.

Hey DJ - if you want to see something weird, check out https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=197947.0

I had (have) the same problem but without an alternate network connection to try.

What do you think has been the issue? Avast’s servers don’t like something tiny in the IP chain from XP Mode?
