Need help. Adware

Sorry, i’m a newbie so go easy on me. I tried searching for this, but found it easier to just ask for help.

I’m new to Avast after switching from AVG. I love Avast, but need some help figuring out what this means.

Here is a log file from the scan I ran last night.

9/8/2007 12:43:45 AM SYSTEM 1764 Function setifaceUpdatePackages() has failed. Return code is 0x20000004, dwRes is 20000004.
9/8/2007 1:01:54 AM Owner 524 Sign of “Win32:Adware-gen. [Adw]” has been found in “C:\System Volume Information_restore{F845E3DB-F751-4BE4-A620-64F2CA1BFB5F}\RP303\A0096175.exe$PLUGINSDIR\DetectionProcessus.dll” file.

Did you uninstall (fully) AVG?

You can Disable System Restore on Windows ME or Windows XP. System Restore cannot be disabled on Windows 9x and it’s not available in Windows 2k. After boot you can enable System Restore again after that. This procedure will delete the infected files. Other option is run avast at boot time. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

Anyway, I won’t worry that much. Just verbose of the logs.
