I have a few problems. I have a dial-up connection and all of a sudden it has become really slow. I notice that the modem is continuously in use even when I’m not doind anything.
I have pressed ctrl-alt-delete and it show some processes that I am unaware of. They are:
hpoevm08.exe and a number of other hp0…
sysweb.exe
htpatch.exe
isafe.exe
alg.exe and a number of svchost.exe. I realise some of these are important but some are under local service, system and network service. I delete all these and the extra traffic stops.
I use VET but that doesn’t seem to clean them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
HP… are probably related to your HP-printer, don’t know if they are all necessary…
you can check the filenames/processes with google & http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php
reload the page, if it can’t be reached /performance problems
→ e.g.:
HTpatch.exe is part of the SiS AGP patch - BUT unless your processor (and motherboard) supports HyperThreading (HT) and this feature is enabled it will actually SLOW your graphics card by around 6%
Also try Onlinescanners Trend & KAV (see below) or from www.ravantivirus.com to check the files/the whole PC
or post a logfile of hijackthis: http://hjt.klaffke.de/en so we see what’S starting/running on your PC
