I have install free bitdefender v7.0 into another computer using XP Pro and it has got SP2 platform I just want to try it, when I uninstall the free version of Bitdefender and restart the computer an automatic popup stay new hardware driver is found it keep asking me to install a driver call Bitdefender Communicator.
Does any knows how to remove the automatic popup hardware driver for Bitdefender Communicator is driving me up a bloody brick wall, please has any come across the problem in past without reformat the computer again.
Finally I am going to KILL the Bitdefender.
Thanks I hope i am not being to rude, just having a bad day try to remove the automatic popup hardware driver for Bitdefender Communicator.
Morning ;D
Before you’re really going to kill some, first kill the running processes from BitDef by ctrl-alt-del > processes and after that go to c/program files/common-files and delete everything there is from Bit-Defender.
It’s weird. After uninstalling BD this communication server stays active and it lives in the common-files.
Thanks for dropping by and I will delete all the Bitdefender in the common files section, and I will can back to you asap if it works but not right now I just have a guess arrived at the front door.
I didn’t know they located in the common files section as well.
Fast when I delete the Softwin in the common-files directory, and restart my computer the “Found New Hardware” pops up again showing the Bitdefender Communicator I am still having no luck at all
I have tried everything from reinstall and uninstall and clean out the register files, and i am still having no luck at all cause that bloody popup keep showing up “found new harder” Bitdefender Communicator.
I am going to KILL Bitdefender! and I hate reformating the computer >:(
This may be irrelevant, but I thought I’d mention it.
I’ve got the free bitdefender also, and I checked my program files. As Fast said, in addition to Program Files/Softwin, there’s the Program Files/Common Files/Softwin. In it are three folders, one of which looks hidden. In the hidden folder, “Setup Information”, is one named {61C1E4FF-3203-4CE0-B4AF-6480607D0AA3}, which contains bdfree.msi. I did a registry search, and found 13 references to this, some of which related to Windows but didn’t mention softwin or bitdefender …
I have no idea what this means, but maybe it gives someone else an idea. Maybe there’s still a registry entry telling windows about bitdefender ???
Stick your head out mate “Dammit” let me kiss you ;D You have save me from reformatting my other computer from nightmare, Bob the link you have gave and I have followed every instruction from that website and it works.
The found new hardware popup Bitdefender Communicator it GONE no more popup problem, however the link you gave me has left one small problem behind on my computer that I cannot resolve that is
I tell you this Bitdefender free version is a worst trouble maker, I have remove all the bitdefender software and register instead of the last bit I cannot located.
I have no experience with it myself but it looks promising.
Edit: I do have experience with it now, because I just downloaded it and tried it out.
It works fine here.
I am having trouble trying to tweak the send-to menu with this tool you gave me the link, cause I don’t know how do it could you please provide me instruction how.

Good deal. Take a look in the Sendto Folder in the Documents and Settings Folder under your username. There should be a listing to the
shortcut for BitDefender. You’ll need to remove it and the corresponding actual program. It’s possible that the only thing left, is the entry
in the Sendto Folder.
Good luck.
Hello Speedy, I think Bob’s advice is much better, so if I were you, I would trust him !
But if you want to use the tool, it’s: go to " send to" , tick the plus-sign, click on the item of Bit-Defender which you want to be removed, hit the remove-button and hit the apply button.
But, again, I think Bob’s way is the preferred one.
Thanks for telling me with the last puzzle for me to delete the last problem, and finally my computer can rest fro the worst nightmare.
This maybe a real silly question. Why on earth Bitdefender create the worst software when a person like myself decided to uninstall the software, and suddenly it turn out a bloody nightmare I do have the idea what Microsoft is like with Window Me…bloody MS Window Me.

Your welcome. I’m glad your computer is OK again.
In this case, I don’t think the fault lies with MS but with BitDefender.
Unfortunately many programs like to leave peaces of themselves all over the place
even after we do an un-install. In most instances, this doesn’t effect any other programs but,
in some cases it does.
