Hi shiegy,

Here is the information about it:

You should protect your computer against spyware using: Ad-aware, Spybot S&D and SpywareBlaster (the last mentioned program to be installed when your machine is clean).

polonus

hi polonus!
i also have a-squared and by the looks of it it didnt catch that, so what will be your best suggestion uninstall a2 and switch to those that youve just mentioned?

Use ewido antimalware if you have XP. It performs better than a2, generates less false positives www.ewido.com

hi YLAP sorry i forgot to tell you guys that im only using windows 98

Hi shiegy,

Well my friend if you use win 98 se you are well advised to install the update for the unofficial sp for win 98. There you have all the updates that came for this OS, exept you have to update your browser and Outlook yourself. I had it on my comp without any problems amd could easily install a USB scan drive without problems. I ran the win 98 unofficial se version together with avast, ad-aware, spybot s&d, spywareblaster, a-squared (but there were some FP’s there lately), and system safety monitor (but that is for the advanced user). Occasionally I had an online scan with Bitdefender, installed the non-resident ClamWin, and had the hyperlink-scanner plug-in of Dr Web’s running inside the browser (Flock or FF or IE 6.0).
Apart from some cookies (ran a good Ad-block list) I had virtually no malware from that time on. Get the unofficial service pack here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Unofficial-Windows-SE-Service-Pack.shtml

greets,

polonus

I’d recommend Trend Micro Sysclean:

If you are not a Trend Micro customer please download the following file.

http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise/support/tsc.php

For the TSC package to be effective, you must download and use the latest pattern file. Place the pattern file in the same folder as the Trend Micro System Cleaner Package.
