Hello Avast,

I have recently purchase a 1yr. License for 3 PC’s - Avast Internet Security, on July 17th of 2012.
I’ve recently had to perform a Complete OS W7 Fresh Install, due to the Registry Errors I’ve started to receive 2wks after Avast was implemented into my system.
A Prior Restore Point did not resolve the issue, nor did Avast find anything Wrong, Virus/Malware wise.
I’ve also used one of your Avast tools - aswMBR, with no infections/Problems found.
My Icons started to change into other icons and so forth - not too long afterwards, my system became Unstable to the point of my having to Reinstall W7.
Maybe it’s because I’ve used a Custom Install of Avast and purposely left out the Remote and Firewall Options - But I don’t think that my decision should have an impact on overall product functionality, otherwise there would not be Options.
So, If You can Help me Resolve this Issue, Then I would Gladly Appreciate your Efforts - Otherwise, I will have no other choice than to cut my loses and find another Product for 3 PC’s.

Kind Regards,
Richard

Any Help will be Greatly Appreciated.
Warm Regards,
Richard

Is there a short version of that…?? ;D
What’s your question…??

Sure - I was wondering if I can transfer my License to the Avast Pro Antivirus instead, since I know that during the trial period, I had NO issues whatsoever.

If I cannot change my License, then I might be able to Convert the AIS Program to Simulate the APA instead by eliminating certain Modules on the Custom Screen during it’s installation section.

Before we dig deeper here, did you already install the latest version of IS…?? (7.0.1466)

No - However, I was going to install the APA trial version again instead of the AIS.

  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??

Only The Packaged Features of Windows 7.
Other information is as follows - 64 bit OS, No AVP (AntiVirus Program), all update patches installed.

Surely you can do a Custom Install of AIS and don’t install the Firewall (and anti-spam) module/s you effectively have the Pro Version then.

You could try a direct contact to sales (at) avast (dot) com and ask is it possible to convert your AIS license to an avast! Pro license. Asking the direct question may get a correct response.

The AIS license for 3 systems (package deal) I believe is probably a better deal cost wise than the Pro version for 3 PCs, where the avast Pro is usually for 1pc for 1 year. So there may not be a direct price comparison, see image examples.

  1. Download avast! Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Okay - sorry for the delay - I have to get on with my day and will check back around noon…

As for DavidR - Yes, I’ve already purchased the AIS for all 3 of my computers and one of the other is showing some of the same issues…
Also, as mentioned before, I was thinking about doing a Selective Module Install for the AIS…

Now as for Asyn - I will do that .

Please be aware that I Prefer to use Avast over the rest of the Competition, So I have no problem using the product - I just don’t want to have to go through the whole process of reinstalling my OS again, and I know that the Trial version of Avast Pro worked just fine - Surely anyone can understand that…

Also, if there is anyway we can keep this post private - I surely would Appreciate that - I don’t want to put out a Negative image towards Avast, and this post was the only way that I could actually make some headway…

  1. OK, please report back.
  2. Well no, it’s an open forum…

Positive criticism and opinions are welcome. Like Asyn said, this is an open forum.

Okay - No Worries on the Open Forum issue - So I’ve Managed to Modify the Post a Bit from it’s Original Context - I’m Sure this Will Display a More Positive Format.

Thank You Asyn, DavidR, and Tech for Your Input.

This Approach Surely Beats Waiting for a Reply every 24 Hours from HQ

You’re welcome.

I think the forums are better in that you are almost having a conversation with the prompt/frequent ease of contact.

You’re welcome.
